Directions
In a saucepan scalded milk, pour into bowl and add sugar, butter and salt . Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water let sit for 5 minutes till it foams. Add beaten eggs. Combine with milk mixture. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time to make very stiff batter. Cover batter with plastic wrap and set in warm place to rise till double, about 1 hour. Punch down, then spread in a greased baking pan to a depth of ¾ to 1 inch. Brush with butter and let rise again. Peel apples and slice. Arrange slices on dough, pressing in slightly. Sprinkle with a mixture of ¼ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Bake in a moderate oven, (350 to 375° F.) about 30 minutes.
