Look At What Someone Made For A Norwegian Gingerbread Contest

Dec 27, 2013 10:15 am

An edible Transformers character? Believe it.

We're in awe of this gingerbread rendition of Optimus Prime.

If there’s one thing that never gets old during the holiday season, it’s building gingerbread houses. Never has something so simplistic and seemingly childish so well stood the test of time. No matter how religiously we practice the craft of cookie construction, however, we may need to resign ourselves to the fact that our work just may never reach the level of skill of some individuals from the country of Norway.

While we can’t exactly speak Norwegian, language skills are not particularly necessary to marvel at some of the creations that have been submitted on Pepper Kake Galleriet, as part of a gingerbread house competition that will net the winner $6,500 (U.S.). Yes, that’s Optimus Prime from the Transformers franchise, and yes, he is entirely edible. We found some other fine masterpieces by scrolling through the gallery, but we’re just about set to name entrant Caroline Eriksson the contest’s runaway winner. Take a look for yourself and feel free to send along a photo of your own gingerbread artwork.
